I have always felt uncomfortable, sometimes taking offense at being characterized as “godless” after disclosing my beliefs and worldview. The term godless focuses on what I am not or what I lack and says nothing about what I am or possess as far as beliefs or moral direction.
Even though I do not normally subscribe to pigeon-holing, I was actually relieved to have discovered a term that best describes my worldview…….”bright”

In 2002 Paul Geisart coined the noun “bright” but did not announce it until 2003 when he and Mynga Futrell founded the brights movement. The term is meant to define the much maligned [tag]atheist[/tag], agnostic, naturalist, secularist and humanist communities. In 2002 Paul disliked the label “godless” and resolved to identify a better term to unite the “community of reason”.
