WASHINGTON -- Barack Obama clinched victory Tuesday night in the Democratic presidential race, defeating Hillary Clinton after a marathon primary campaign and becoming the first black nominee for the White House in American history. Her supporters cheered, and Bill and Chelsea Clinton smiled and applauded the statement. The speech came on the heels of her projected win in the South Dakota primary. But she said she wanted to hear from her supporters, and as she often does in her post-primary speeches, she exhorted supporters to go to Hillaryclinton.com.
