Wesley Clark angling for Obama VP spot?
Dallas Morning News - Dallas,TX,USA
Wesley Clark now appears to by vying for a VP slot with Barack Obama. Obama needs someone with strong national security credentials, and few can match the expertise of Gen. Clark. I wonder, though, whether Clark will be able to explain his earlier criticisms of Obama (including to our editorial board) as someone too green and untested to qualify for the presidency. He'll have to do at least a little backtracking if he gains prominence as a potential running mate. In an interview with the Huffington Post, Clark now is questioning why everyone assumes John McCain will necessarily be better on national security affairs than Obama.

Obama Calls On Black Men To Be Better Fathers
U.S. News & World Report - Washington,DC,USA
Barack Obama's Father's Day speech before a "largely black church in Chicago," where he delivered "a rather blunt message to African-American men. He said too many black fathers are absent from their children's lives. 'We need fathers to realize that responsibility does not end at conception,' he said. Obama's words seemed aimed at not only at African-Americans, but also at white voters who might be uneasy about his candidacy." The CBS Evening News ran a much briefer report on the speech later in its broadcast, while NBC News was preempted by golf.
