Rep. Robert Wexler Perseveres in Seeking the Truth

There are few in Congress that The Lang Report holds in higher esteem than Rep. [tag]Robert Wexler[/tag] (D-Fl) who has tirelessly worked to seek the truth of regarding the questionable activities of President Bush, V.P. Dick Cheney, Karl Rove and others that may have used their position for unconstitutional and/or illegal purposes.

Karl Rove Doesn’t Deny Involvement in Siegelman Case

Former Bush chief strategist Karl Rove deliberately declined to deny his involvement in the controversial prosecution of Don Siegelman, the former Alabama Governor whose arrest on grounds of corruption appeared politically motivated. In an at times dismissive interview with ABC’s “This Week” Rove said that he would not respond to a subpoena by the House Judiciary Committee imploring his testimony in the Siegelman case. Asked if he had ever made contact with the Justice Department, the man known as Bush’s brain said: “I read about — I’m going to simply say what I’ve said before, which is I found out about Don Siegelman’s investigation and indictment by reading it in the newspaper.” “But that’s not a denial,” said the host George Stephanopoulos. Former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan writes in a surprisingly scathing memoir to be published next week that President Bush “veered terribly off course,” was not “open and forthright on Iraq,” and took a “permanent campaign approach” to governing at the expense of candor and competence. Among the most explosive revelations in the 341-page book, titled “What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington’s Culture of Deception” McClellan charges that Bush relied on “propaganda” to sell the war. Bob Barr is Official Libertarian Candidate as Mike Gravel Ends Political Career

The Libertarian Party on Sunday picked former Republican Rep. Bob Barr to be its presidential candidate after six rounds of balloting. Barr beat research scientist Mary Ruwart, who also sought the party’s presidential nomination unsuccessfully in 1983, on the final ballot. The vote was 324-276. Sunday’s election also marked the end of the latest chapter in the political career of Mike Gravel, a former senator from Alaska who recently dropped out of the Democratic presidential race. “I just ended my political career,” he said.
