Oliver Stone’s Bush Bio, “W” Will Hopefully Show the Ugly Truth
By webreporter on May 11, 2008 in BRAIN FOOD
“How did go from an alcoholic bum fending off the demons in his private life, his bouts with his dad and his conversion to Christianity, to become the most powerful figure in the world?” asked these questions and more including Bush’s belief that God personally chose him to be president of the United States, and launch a pre-emptive attack on Iraq in his new movie titled, “W”.
Stone asked and will answer these questions in “W”, which could begin filming as soon as April and be released in time for Bush's departure from the Oval Office, and the following presidential election in November.
The Platoon director, who has been one of Bush's most virulent critics, calling him "the wrong leader at the wrong time" in 2005, says his biopic will be "a fair, true portrait of the man" and will "contain surprises for Bush supporters and his detractors".
Having courted controversy with his films, Nixon, about Richard Nixon, and JFK, about John F Kennedy, Stone is to dramatize the life of a living - and still in office - president. Josh Brolin, recently seen in No Country For Old Men is attached to play the 43rd president of the United States.
Oliver Stone has cast James Cromwell and Ellen Burstyn, as George Herbert Walker Bush and Barbara Bush in ''W,'' his film about the formative years of their oldest son, President George W. Bush
NOTE: Beyond its entertainment value, The Lang Report, which has been diligently documenting Bush, his Administration and the unconscionable crimes against the Constitution we believe they have committed, are hoping that Stone is rigorous in his pursuit of the truth and brutally honest with its depiction.
It remains our opinion that George Bush and “Friends” have gotten off lightly thus far and have escaped answering for their behavior. I don’t expect Stone’s film to be a totally negative portrayal, however I do hope that it stirs enough emotion and curiosity amongst the American public to ignite an honest search for the truth.
Obviously, the White House has yet to comment on the project.
