The holiday tree in the Washington state Capitol this year will be joined by a Christian nativity scene and an atheistic billboard. Why all the hoopla? Could it be the mention of atheism and the billboard that reads,” Religion is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds?”

Atheism, the term, the “ist” is so passe….so old school that it does not do myself, the user, any justice. Identifying myself as a Bright is a better description of who I am and what I believe however the moniker has the drawback of not being well recognized therefore requiring further explanation….which is a hassle.

In today’s Sun Sentinel, I read about a Coconut Creek, Florida resident, Burton H. Wolfe who grew up in a Jewish family and at age 18, began to have doubts about the authenticity of the Bible. He especially questioned the story of Jesus Christ so he wrote a book, The Case Against ‘Jesus’ that, he said, ends all possibility of continuing belief in Jesus Christ and the stories of the New Testament.

The debate continues…. What exactly is creationism and should it be taught in public schools? Nearly a third (33%) of teachers, who responded to an email poll for Teachers TV, think creationism or intelligent design should be given the same status as evolution.

We know that Sarah Palin believes in Creationism and thinks that it should be taught as science in public schools. But she’s not really a Creationist, she actually subscribes to another Christian faction called DOMINIONISM. Dominionism holds that Christians have rightful “dominion” over the earth- including its political institutions. Now, for those of you that were a little put off by Sarah Palin’s belief in Creationism…..

A judge has thrown out a Nebraska legislator’s lawsuit against God, saying the Almighty wasn’t properly served due to his unlisted home address. State Sen. Ernie Chambers filed the lawsuit last year seeking a permanent injunction against God for not living up to job description.

Sarah Palin very likely believes that Biblical prophecy is an infallible guide to future events and that we are living in the “end times,” which is to say she very likely thinks that human history will soon unravel in a foreordained cataclysm of war and bad weather. However badly she may stumble during the remaining weeks of this campaign, her supporters will focus their outrage upon the journalist who caused her to break stride, upon the camera operator who happened to capture her fall. Does all of this mean that Sarah Palin is the new “teflon Mom” sent by god to save America? Here is anrilliant article from our friend, Sam Harris.
