Bruce Springsteen is still THE BOSS

THE BOSSTHE BOSS is still THE BOSS as he delivered the goods last night at Superbowl XLIII. So if anyone questioned whether the years have diminished Bruce Springsteen’s ability to “rock the house,” no matter how big that house might be, their questions have been answered.

What was a pleasant surprise was the game itself which has historically been a snoozefest with the best parts being the multi-million dollar commercials.

Well, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals also delivered a show that is already being touted as the best Superbowl ever. I know, the competition is limp, but still, the game was a scorcher!

OK, enough football….let’s get back to the real reason we committed our Sunday evening to this event….the famous and sometimes infamous 12 minute half-time show.

Anybody who has ever attended a Springsteen concert is all too aware that his shows are notoriously known for being a 3 to 4 hour all out, balls to the walls rock ‘n roll marathon.

BUT 12 MINUTES?  …….how did he do it?

PRACTICE!

At rehearsal he strutted across the stage: testing banter, brandishing his guitar, belting lyrics and jiving with Mr. Van Zandt. As the band finished a run-through, someone holding a timer called out the length of the set. "We've got one-sixteenth of a second left," Mr. Springsteen exulted. "And we plan to use it."

…..and you can bet he did
