Exactly How Many Crooks Are There in Congress?

Have you ever wondered exactly how many crooks there are in Congress Well, there is one thing for sure…..one is too many!

You might have heard by now that Alaskan Senator Ted Stevens, the longest-serving Republican in Senate history, was indicted by the Justice Department for allegedlyTED STEVENS INFAMOUS BRIDGE failing to disclose gifts and services he received from VECO Corp., an Alaska oil services company.

An interesting observation and sad commentary on our society is that most of the stories in the media are focused on the political implications of the event because Stevens is facing strong opposition in his next election.

The arrogance of Stevens and other career politicians emboldens them to believe that they operate above and beyond the laws enacted for the masses. An embarrassing example of this is that prior to the investigation, Alaskan legislators wore baseball caps with the initials "CBC," which stood for "Corrupt Bastards Club."

According to the indictment, between May 1999 and August 2007, Stevens received goods and services that vastly improved his vacation home outside of Anchorage. It appears that the VECO Corp. and its founder, Bill Allen, oversaw the expansion adding a whole story to the house, along with a garage and wraparound deck. VECO also paid for new plumbing, wiring and gutter work. Oh, let’s not forget the Viking gas grill, tools, furniture and the chance to swap a 1964 Ford Mustang for a brand new 1999 Land Rover Discovery.

Naturally, Stevens denied any wrongdoing and says he paid every renovation bill he received. Wait, could it be that he never received any of the bills because they went directly to VECO?

The senator, who once oversaw more than $900 billion in federal spending each year as chairman of the Appropriations Committee, said he has "temporarily relinquished" his senior posts on several committees, in accordance with Senate rules, while he focuses on the legal battle ahead.

And in the last few years, the Alaska Republican has been a poster boy for congressional spending culminating in 2005 with the legislation to build a so-called "bridge to nowhere" which became the butt of too many not-so-funny jokes. The proposal called for construction of a $223 million bridge to connect Alaska's Gravina Island -- population 50 -- to the mainland.

In my opinion, what is happening to the Senator is a form of “poetic justice’ and I am willing to bet that this incident is only the tip of the iceberg because the attitude and mindset that Stevens had was that the United States Treasury was a “Congressional piggy bank” for him and his cronies.

After all, he is the “King of Pork”. You think I’m being a little harsh? Watch this VIDEO:

In 2005, legislation backed by Stevens Stevens, 84, the first sitting U.S. senator to face criminal charges in 15 years, adamantly denied the allegations in a statement yesterday afternoon. Notice I said, “sitting U.S. senator because there have been too many others that faced prosecution after leaving office.

So far, the investigation has yielded seven convictions with a promise of more to come.

Y’all better watch out as there may be a new Marshal coming to town and his name is Barack Obama!
