"Medicare fraud is a billion-dollar-a-year problem in South Florida. A 2007 federal report found that one-third of the companies that billed Medicare were not even open at the time. Prosecutors have arrested the owners of 150 firms for fraud, some topping $100 million each."

As somebody who has had the great pleasure of dealing with the red-tape in Florida... I'm amazed that they get anything accomplished for their citizens without the local, county and state government making it more difficult. I'm amazed that they haven't been able to curtail these practices. Where is all of this Medicare fraud going? Somebody is looking the other way at some level.
