John Nirenberg’s Valliant Effort for Impeachment Continues

John Nirenberg….where have you been? We, at The Lang Report have been avidly following you, applauding your efforts every step of the way.

It seems that when it comes to , and the rest of the rogues in this administration, I stay in a perpetual state of varrying degrees of outrage. It is unconscionable that someone like , a man who takes the Constitution seriously, is rebuffed at Nancy Pelosi’s door…. especially after walking 485 miles!

Here, in his own words, is a video of John Nirenberg

I walked from Faneuil Hall in Boston to House Speaker Pelosi’s office to encourage her to put impeachment “back on the table.” The March started at 10:30 a.m. on December 1st; I reached D.C. on January 12th. This site describes the experience and what I found in along the way. I also arrived at some general conclusions

  • First, Washington is under a thick miasma of fear and intimidation that emanates from the White House, but is perpetuated and enforced by a robotic, obstructionist, staunchly ideological, extremist, Republican party members uninterested in real people problems or the Constitutional issues raised by the Bush/Cheney administration. But the Democrats have been the enablers, fearful of standing up for what they know is right but shrink from facing.
  • Second, the public sees what is going on and knows that impeachable acts have been committed (and new ones, such as the executive treaty with Iraq bypassing the Senate, are being committed) - even without much mainstream mention of the issues or impeachment.
  • Third, both parties are protected by the structure of our politics which makes a realistic third party challenge very unlikely. Thus, they have detached from the feedback process with the public. They make up for their unresponsiveness between elections with manipulative advertising and PR that results in the electorate voting for the best illusionist.
  • Fourth, throughout the entire 485 mile journey I was encouraged by citizens who renewed my faith in our potential as a people. To them, I continue to be grateful. Together, we can keep impeachment alive and, I believe, will ultimately turn the tide so that the media takes note and Congress acts.

Together we can stop the lies; stop the corruption and stop the killing. Now. Please do what you can to engage the media, your representatives, and those who are still unfamiliar with what is happening to our Constitution. Nothing less than the future of our democracy is at stake. History will thank you.

Whatever the outcome, John Nirenberg has been an inpiration to many as he reminded all Americans that the people we elect, WORK FOR US and must be accountable for their decisions and action.

    I’m mad as hell, too.

But I saw no mention in your post here about the efforts made by US House Reps Kucinich (Ohio) and Wexeler (Florida) to impeach Cheney first, with Bush in the Number 2 spot. Pelosi fired off Kucinich’s measure to get the impeachment debates rolling to the House Judicial Committee, where John Conyers and others are holding up progress, because John Conyers’ own office aide said that it’s okay for tax-paid Government insiders to commit high crimes and misdemeanors, even if they strip us of our rights and cost lives and limbs.

I am wondering what Ron Paul has been doing to officially and directly support Kucinich’s and Wexeler’s efforts.

We’ve been passing around a petition calling for Nancy Pelosi to be removed from her position as US House Speaker for obstruction of justice. I don’t know if you’ve accessed it, signed it and blogged it, but here it is:
