However, you miss the point. A top aide to two top Republicans felt this was a "winning" tactic in capturing the RNC Chairmanship. It speaks volumes about not just Saltsman but about what he KNEW would appeal to many/most Republicans. The current Chairman was PR savy enough to quickly distance himself but again--this was a "go to" guy for both Frist and Huckabee.
