Impeaching Cheney is a Slam Dunk…..then why is Congress BLOWING IT!
By Michael Lang on Nov 9, 2007 in Political Commentary
As published on the website of Rep. , a man of rare courage and integrity:
(Washington D.C.) Congressman Wexler supported allowing debate and a vote on a privileged resolution sponsored by Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) on the impeachment of Vice President Dick Cheney (H.Res. 333). Wexler voted no, along with only 85 other Democrats, on tabling the measure and in support of beginning immediate debate and a vote on the Cheney impeachment resolution. The vote on tabling the Kucinich resolution was rejected, and the House subsequently voted to refer the matter to the Judiciary Committee.
“Vice President Dick Cheney and the Bush Administration have demonstrated a consistent pattern of abusing the law and misleading Congress and the American people. We see the consequences of these actions abroad in Iraq and at home through the violations of our civil liberties,” Wexler said.
“The American people are served well with a legitimate and thorough impeachment inquiry. I urge the Judiciary Committee to schedule impeachment hearings immediately and not let this issue languish as it has over the last six months. Only through hearings can we begin to correct the abuses of Dick Cheney and the Bush Administration; and, if it is determined in these hearings that Vice President Cheney has committed High Crimes and Misdemeanors, he should be impeached and removed from office.”
If you have been following the valiant attempts by Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D,OH), Rep. Robert Wexler (D-FL) and others, you are probably as irate and frustrated as I and many others who are more concerned with the rule of law and justice than they are the maintenance of the daily status quo.
Putting aside our emotions and the usual political maneuverings, I, along with many others closely following the events, sense that there is something very different, almost sinister about what is happening in the halls of Congress. All you have to do is listen to any of the interviews that Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) gave yesterday and you’ll know exactly what I mean. (940WINZ Interview)
Now, as a result of last Tuesday’s very confusing Congressional floor vote, the Resolution to Impeach (HR333) now rests with the House Judiciary Committee, chaired by the Honorable Rep. John Conyers (D-MI).
Historically Conyers has been an avid advocate for impeachment stating that all he needs is three more Congress Members backing impeachment and he’ll move on it, even without Nancy Pelosi. THEN WHY IS HE STALLING?
There has been a lot of talk by both parties about how their time would be much better spent if they DID NOT move the impeachment forward giving them time to work on other very important legislation. (Just listen to the Wasserman Schultz interview, that is if you can sit through it without destroying whatever listening device you’re using!)
even also states that the impeaching of Vice President is not even in the “Top 10” list of things the American people want their elected representatives to focus on. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT!
CAN THOSE IN “THE BELTWAY” BE ANY MORE DETACHED FROM REALITY AND THE WILL OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE?

Cheney attended Yale University, but he flunked out. Cheney was twice prosecuted for and convicted of drunk driving. Cheney lied to former U.S. House Majority Leader Dick Armey about the grounds for going to war in Iraq. Cheney is a pathological liar. Cheney is incompetent. Cheney would like to think that he is above the law. However, Cheney must pay for crimes against the United States and the world.
