RON PAUL for PRESIDENT: What America Needs, America Will Never Get

America needs a man like the U.S. Congressman from Texas,Ron Paul , who describes his platform as “limited constitutional government, low taxes, free markets, and a return to sound monetary policies.” Sounds good, right? Wait…it gets better!

Paul also say he "never votes for legislation unless the proposed measure is expressly authorized by theConstitution , which has earned him the nickname, “Dr. No”.

No? The only time a politician votes no is when it is going to affect their chances for re-election!

Unfortunately, the tragedy is that Ron Paul or anybody like him will never be elected to an office beyond the Congress until America wakes up and realizes that “campaign finance reform” is our only hope for genuine change.

America, “the great experiment” in Democracy has created an almost impossible to unravel catch-22 concerning the electing of the right man for President of the United States.

This is due primarily to the fact that the “special interest money” and now, the “religious fundamentalists ” will never back the kind of man that will make the kind of choices to change the course of the “runaway juggernaut” that our system has become.

Why would they? Why should they when our system has evolved into one that allows institutions like “old money” and the “military industrial complex” to prosper?

If there is one thing that could begin to unravel the Gordian Knot that our political process has become is the adoption real campaign finance reform, with no loopholes! And while you at it, go ahead and run all of the lobbyists out of Washington and let’s start over, using the Constitution has our only guide.

I am a 2 tour Vietnam Veteran who recently retired after 36 years of working in the Defense Industrial Complex on many of the weapons systems being used by our forces as we speak. I believed another Vietnam could be avoided with defined missions and the best armaments in the world.

    It made no difference.

We have bought into the Military Industrial Complex (MIC). If you would like to read how this happens please see:

    http://www.vanityfair.com/politics/features/2007/03/spyagency200703

Through a combination of public apathy and threats by the MIC we have let the SYSTEM get too large. It is now a SYSTEMIC problem and the SYSTEM is out of control. Government and industry are merging and that is very dangerous.

There is no conspiracy. The SYSTEM has gotten so big that those who make it up and run it day to day in industry and government simply are perpetuating their existance.

The politicians rely on them for details and recommendations because they cannot possibly grasp the nuances of the environment and the BIG SYSTEM.

So, the system has to go bust and then be re-scaled, fixed and re-designed to run efficiently and prudently, just like any other big machine that runs poorly or becomes obsolete or dangerous.

This situation will right itself through trauma. I see a government ENRON on the horizon, with an associated house cleaning.

The next president will come and go along with his appointees and politicos. The event to watch is the collapse of the MIC.

Ken, first off…thank you for your service to our Country. I really appreciate your comment of my Ron Paul article. It does seem futile most times and you are right to believe that not much will change as elections come and go except the faces and the pictures in Federal buildings.
I too am afraid that it is going to take something catastrophic to shake up the system. In the interim all we can do is speak out. I too am a child of the 60s and wonder what it is going to take to wake up our young people to march against injustice like we did.
Maybe if the draft returns and their asses then become at risk they will do something!
    Yours in fellowship and solidarity.
