Hillary Clinton Slips in the Gallup Poll

Democratic U.S. presidential candidate Sen. ’s lead slipped when pitted against her Republican counterpart, a Gallup poll indicates.

A Gallup Poll Daily tracking survey of 4,368 registered voters conducted Tuesday through Thursday has Clinton, D-N.Y., 2 points ahead of the presumptive Republican nominee Sen. John McCain, Ariz. The 2 percent margin of error, however, makes that a statistical tie.

Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., shows similar results when pitted against McCain, although it indicates a drop for Clinton, who once held a 5 point lead over McCain.

Obama, however, maintains his near three-week stretch of leading rival Clinton in tracking reports. The Saturday poll indicates Obama has a 10 point lead over Clinton in a survey of 1,240 Democratic and Democratic-leaning voters.

The Democratic survey concluded prior to Saturday’s Democratic Rules and Bylaws Committee meeting to settle the disputed delegates in Michigan and Florida. It had a sampling error of 3 percentage points.
