UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE: Is It Every Citizen’s Birthright?

Why is the United States the only industrialized country in the world that does not provide for its citizens?

It is so difficult for me to fathom how the richest country can deny more than 40 million of its citizens the right to basic healthcare services and still purport to be a leader in the world. It's almost unexplainable how Administrations, past and present, Democrat and Republican, could spend (and waste) millions upon millions of entrusted taxpayer monies on projects that would be perfect candidates for "America's Favorite Bloopers"...... while young and old remain sick and needlessly die!

It would be laughable if it wasn't so tragic that whenever the topic of Universal Health Care is raised and debated, the dialogue always contains the question, "how are we going to pay for it?", as if it was money that was the issue. Any attempt to apply logic to Universal Health Care and why it is not provided for every American citizen is nonsensical, yielding only frustration, anger and more unanswered questions except one......WHY?

If almost everyone, inside and outside of every capital in the United States agrees that there is a need for UHC and ideally everyone should have access to it, then why don't we have it? There can be only one answer that makes any kind of sense and that is that the AMA (American Medical Association) and the Insurance companies pay an obscene amount of money to the powers that be, to not pursue a solution. They like things just the way they are and if I was a self-centered, low-life scumbag, I would too!

I recently went to see 's new documentary, which, like his other films, attempts to shed a satirical light on some of the major issues of the day. In this case it is the Health Care system in the United States along with insights into how other countries provide health care to its citizens.

The one thing that I took away from that viewing was that after the film the audience broke out into spontaneous applause follow by spirited conversations as they slowly filed out of the theater. These conversations were almost unanimously angry in nature especially since the majority of the audience was an "older crowd" who are especially touched by the astronomical costs of prescription drugs and health care services.

The question I'll pose is the question you'll see repeatedly if you follow the Lang Report's postings, and that is: "What can you do and what are you going to do about it?" If you believe like I do, that Universal Health Care is a right that every American citizen is entitled to..... then you need to get mad!

Look in the mirror tell yourself, "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!" Then write your elected officials, firstly reminding them that they work for you and need to work towards a Health Care solution that provides for every American man, woman and child, and you want that work to begin NOW!

NOW!!!

Where in the US Constitution does it say that the Federal government is responsible for providing health care to the population? The reason health care costs are so high is because everyone thinks they are entitled to the highest level medical care. Sorry, but I don’t want the government controlling my health care.
