Congress Turns Blind Eye to First Amendment….Passes H.R. 847

Now I would like to believe that there is more than one Congressperson that has read or carries the of the United States besides Rep. Ron Paul although you wouldn’t know it by their recent action.

Last week Rep. Steve King (R-IA), self-appointed “U.S. Christian Soldier” introduced House Resolution 847 which in essence, besides being in violation of the 1st Amendment of the Constitution, “acknowledges and supports the role played by Christians and Christianity in the founding of the United States, etc….”

This is nothing about the language in this House Resolution that is not personally offensive as well as an insult to every real American and champion of the Constitution.

The very first paragraph of the very First Amendment states: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

Is there anything about the above verbiage authored by the Founders of our country that appears confusing or misleading? I do not think so!

Adding to the insult HR 847 also includes:

Whereas Christmas, a holiday of great significance to Americans and many other cultures and nationalities, is celebrated annually by Christians throughout the United States and the worldWhereas there are approximately 225,000,000 Christians in the United States, making Christianity the religion of over three-fourths of the American population;

Whereas on December 25 of each calendar year, American observe Christmas, the holiday celebrating the birth of their savior, Jesus Christ;

This bill passed in the House of Representatives by roll call vote. The vote was held under a suspension of the rules to cut debate short and pass the bill, needing a two-thirds majority. The totals were 372 Ayes, 9 Nays, 50 Present/Not Voting.

I hope you read this after you already ate, because I lost my appetite after I read it!

    regulate churches? do we now have a theocracy in government? downright scary Michael…
    no wonder congress’s approval rating is less than bush’s!!! I wish they’d keep their laws off my religion and keep my religion out of government hands… as well as keep government from religious fanatics

    Amen Brother! It always amazes me the amount of gradiosity that these guys have that they think they are morally superior enough to be able to dictate how we show eat, sleep, fuck, pray, etc.
    I just wrote an article yesterday titled “Hypocrisy knows no bounds:Spitzer, Swaggart, Bakker & Craig”. All of these guys condemned the very behaviors the they were doing behind closed doors…HYPOCRITES all of them!
