Thank you for you eloquent response and one that I agree with wholeheartedly. It frustrates me to watch otherwise good people blindly follow the Church unwilling or afraid to ask the tough questions.
Unfortunately it takes things like the "sexual perversions" of priests to wake them up...even a little bit.

The Roman Catholic Church is the most successful criminal enterprise in history, and the largest and richest business on the planet!
It has stolen and kept vast properties, terrorized thousands of people into building vast churches and handing over vast wealth, while selling the promise of everlasting life, wine and other foodstuffs, and thousands of phony religious relics. Its armies were the largest in Europe for generations, during which time it not only persecuted the competition, but killed them and ran them off.
The fear of hell (and even Purgatory, that place invented by Pope Gregory around 595 A.D.) has been motivating Roman Catholics and other Christians to build great churches, go on Crusades, give vast wealth to the Church and force their children to worship the same god for about 1,500 years. It has made the Roman Catholic Church, which became the official Church of the Roman Empire in 381, the richest and largest institution on earth. Of course, Constantine started it all in 313 with the Council of Nicaea, which cobbled together the New Testament, using only about 20% of the various letters, gospels and other writings available, shaping Catholicism out of various forms of Christianity. It became an institution that began killing off the competition in the ninth century and eventually killed 600, 000 to 800,000 Wise Women of the old religion (witches), Jews, Muslims and scientists in the Inquisition. It was an institution that sent its young men off repeatedly on Crusades, perhaps as a way to keep down the population of Europe. An institution that, after Pope Gregory ordered celibacy so as to keep wealth from passing to the children of Priests, developed the custom of allowing its priests to pick and choose from available young people, to the point where the walls of many old churches are still filled with the remains of dead babies. An institution that for years made money selling wine, forgiveness of sin and phony religious relics. There were once eighteen Holy Prepuces, all certified to be the original foreskin of Christ around Europe. And the Church was involved in brutal wars in Europe for centuries, until it was able to turn its attention to the new world, where the Spanish, armed with the cross, sword and gun, and helped by small pox, wiped out two great empires, stole a vast amount of gold, and converted the survivors at the end of a sword. And then, fearing hell, the peasants of South America built great churches next to their mud huts. And so it went until the eighteenth century, when the CEO in Rome decided relics were unseemly and had them all collected. Given the number of judgments against the Church, I’m expecting them to emerge from the bowels of the Vatican and start appearing on e-Bay. But the biggest crime of this criminal enterprise continued, the rape of its children by the clergy. Who knows who long that has been the real dirty secret of the Church around the world. And, to my knowledge, not one Bishop has ever turned over one priest to the police, anywhere. The Church’s finest hour came during World War Two when, we know, Pope Pius, cut a deal with Hitler that the great churches would be spared if the Church would raise not a finger, and make not a peep, about Hitler’s final solution of the Jewish problem.
And you think a RICO prosecution could touch the church? Surely you jest5!
